I recently wrote a letter to the editor of my local paper and it was published yesterday! I was inspired by the recent email campaign from President Obama asking us all to get involved in making sure Health Reform is passed. If you are interested in getting more involved, click on the following link - http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/health-care-action-center/. They will likely ask you to make a small donation. You, by no means have to, but if you can, know that is important that our message get out there as much as, if not more than, the message the GOP is so forcefully putting out there.
Check the facts
An excellent way to compare the House and Senate bills on healthcare reform is on the Web site, http://www.factcheck.org.
I discovered that the differences in the two bills are so small that they could be resolved if the members of both bodies are sincere in their expressed wishes to reform healthcare.
I wonder if the GOP is just saying “no” to block any changes President Barack Obama is trying to achieve, or are they sincere in their concerns. I also wonder if both parties are more concerned about ruffling the feathers of the insurance companies — thus jeopardizing their campaign contributions — than they are about solving the healthcare debacle.
To start over is, in my mind, simply a delaying tactic. I resent my taxes paying for roadblocks, rather than for action.
The president’s summit on this important reform showed us who is sincere and who is playing the game of politics. Yes, the taxpayers are fed up. And, if you have heard or read rumors about the bills that scare you, go to http://www.factcheck.org and get the truth.
You may be surprised. Our elected officials should stop acting like Little League players who lost the game and now refuse to play ball. I pray they will stop playing politics with our health and our lives and step up to the plate.
Please, pass a healthcare bill we can all live with. The staus quo is no longer acceptable.
